Dear Winter...

We get it, you're cold and stuff.  Can we go back to human weather now?

A night in Narita part 2

The thing about sun rise is that it's something bigger than you.  It's bigger than whatever condition or problem you are facing.  Whenever I find myself staring at the sunrise I can't help but forget everything else and just marvel at the sight.  It's amazing to think we start everyday with a reminder that there is more to life than ourselves and we just need to open our eyes and look.

I love silhouette, she says so much with so few words.

Narita started as a disaster but it was really a pleasant surprise and the sunrise was proof that it's not the situation you are in but how you choose to see it.

Onward to 2013...

Strange Fruit

If you ask me what is my favorite fruit, it's 蓮霧, unequivocally that is my favorite fruit.  The problem is that I don't know what it's called in English and I have yet to find any place that sells it outside of Taiwan & China.  So you can imagine the frustration of not being able to find the fruit and having no idea how to tell people what it is because you don't know the name in English.  However, on my recent trip back to Taiwan I made up for 8 years of 蓮霧 deprivation in one glorious gluttony.

Many thanks to dad for remembering my favorite and making sure there is plenty to stuff into my pie hole.

Imagine the cripsness, juiciness and texture of the watermelon (number 3 on my fruit ranking) mixed with some tartness and a subtle sweetness all in the palm of your hand.  It's divine.

Oh my sweet little delectable cone shaped goodness, we will meet again and it will be heavenly.

When you finally find her

My good friend Jeff is getting engaged, we've known each other for more than half of our lives (ugh, things you can say when you're hitting 30).  Through the years I've known him a large portion of our conversation would be about girls.  The topic range from, where are the girls?  Where can I find these girls?  Is she a good girl?  Or a bad girl?  What kind of girl is she?  She's great!  She's a bitch.  She broke my heart.  Do I really like this girl?  I really like this girl!  Is this the right girl?  I think I'm in love with this girl...  Is she an actual girl? (ok that one never came up)  If only we can use our brain for some nobler purpose, the things we could accomplish, but you get the gist.

It's with great pleasure and delight for me to be able to shoot him and his fiancé a day after his proposal. (Yeah I still remember how to type accented characters, hooray for high school Español)

The thing about my buddy here is that he has been searching for the right girl for as long as I've known him.  The quest for love though tumulous does have its reward and the reward sometime comes with a bubbly personality and a sweet smile that lights up the room.

So our young hero has now secured his maiden's hands, I guess the easy part is over.  Moral of the story, when you finally find her, put a ring on it.

So to the lovely Xianya, welcome to the family!  Don't panic, we are at least as crazy as we look.
